Rachel Sophia Oatham b Bethnal Green 1850
Known children are Rachel, Sarah Ann, Alfred, Charles, and Walter. There may also be Rosina, Rowan, Elizabeth and Frederick.

Thank you very much. I wonder why he is George in 1891 when he is William in 1881 and 1901!  Very strange. His middle name was "Cape" which is quite unusual, so it's not simply a matter of switching given names!  Anyway, it seems like the right family so thank you very much. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

The marriage of William Miller (full age, bachelor, shoemaker) to Rachel Oatham (age 19, spinster) was at St James The Great, Bethnal Green on 6 July 1868. Fathers - William Miller (shoemaker) and Samuel Oatham (bricklayer).

I'm just doing my family tree and Rachel Sophia Oatham and William Cape Miller are my nans (currently 91) grandparents.

Marie, how are they related to yourself?. I have found more information about Rachel's parents, namely they were both born in Chelmsford Essex in 1803 and 1804.

Rachel's mother was called Susanah Dowset.

Weirdly enough when I was searching for a "Rachel I Harrison", as that is what appears to be written on her son's (alfred - ny nan's father) birth certificate, her surname appears to be different, looks like Harrison, or so we thought?

If anyone has any further information I'd be massively grateful.

Hi Joanna, Thanks for your reply. I researched the Miller family for my friend here in Sydney. His name is Ian Bruce Miller, known as
Bruce and he  is our local doctor. haven't done any research for years on this family.I  had some confsion with the older Miller generations where there were two couples with the same names and only found out late,r so still waiting to get the book back from Bruce to correct it. His father Eric died in 200 but his mum is alive and in her 90s.  My files are all on my old computer sso I'll have to try to resurrect them.
