William Wild and family - 1851-71 - Please

Hello,

My William Wild was born abt 1825 in Staffordshire. He gives birth sometimes as Wolverhampton.
He married Mary Ann Maher in Manchester in Mar Quarter 1851.

I know they had William Wild my Great-Great Grandfather in abt 1853. He gives his birth sometimes as Manchester, sometimes as Rochdale.

When widowed in 1881 he is living in a Boarding house in Manchester Road, Oldham.

He died on the 9th of June 1891 in Rochdale.

He was in later life a Plumber - Was he in younger life?

Aside William, I think they may have had a daughter Lucy.

This may be 'Lucys' Christening record (found on the IGI at familysearch.org):
Emma Wild
Christened: 27th September1863, St Chad'S, Rochdale, Lanc's

Parents: William & Mary Ann WILD

It was not unusual for children to be Christened with one name & known by another.

Also, I did another search for a Marriage between a William WILD & a Mary Ann ?----? C1845-1853, here are the results:

When searching for anyone marrying a William WILD:

Mary Ann GURNEY, 22nd December 1844, Saint James,Garlickhithe, London

Mary Ann SERGINSON, 17th August 1845, Cathedral, Manchester, Lanc's

Mary Ann FARMER, 24th June 1847, Saint Bride, Fleet St, London

Mary Ann PORTER, 2nd June 1849, Saint Mary, Bury, Lanc's

If one of these is the right marriage, you would be able to find out by getting the birth Certificate for William Jnr Bn C1853 or Lucy Bn C1863.

Hi,

On the 1871 census it is stated that 8 year old Lucy was born Oldham.

From LancashireBMD:

1862 Lucy Wild born Oldham below Town.  mother maiden name given as SERGUISON. 
The marriage the Pegasuss found at Manchester on 17th August, 1845 of Mary Ann Serginson to William Wild looks more than likely.

So are we following the correct family or not?

Mary Ann Maher did not marry William Wild she married James Flavell.

Well that has changed a few things 

Dear, dear my poor skills in this game have come to the fore once again.

So its a surname change for Mary Ann. Good job I never got anywhere with Mary Ann Maher's family (My poor ability saving me there)

Note to self - Look at LancashireBMD! 

Can we take back Mary Ann Serguison/Serginson? - I'm going to have a little look around, if I don't add anymore after this sentance, assume failure.

PS - Lookie what I found:

Marriage - Dec 1881, 8e 81, Rochdale that has a Hannah Serginson and a William Wild on it.

If this is our William Wild then Mary Ann regardless of her surname died in 1879, could this be William marriaging a relative of is late wife?
