Thanks for your help.  I will just have to wait for another two years but seeing as it has taken about 5 yers to get to this point it's not that long.

This hobby of ours does require a bit of patience now and then - but there's always another branch to follow up in the meantime  :D

If you are a close relative it might be possible to apply to look at the records before the release date. I applied for a birth record from a workhouse, it had a 100 year block on it. I simply had to fill in a short form and wait a few weeks for a decision to be made by the authority. They were very helpful and the report I received was very detailed.

Hi Christine" it's been a long time (about eight years) since I started this post. For some unknown reason I have returned to it and realise that the coroners report for christopher Hansens accident could now be looked at. I was just wondering if it was possible for you to have a peek for me?  The ref is NRO 280. I have looked on National Archives and they state record at Northumberland Archives.
I don't know if you remember that me and my cousin met you and genlistlass??? About two years ago. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, there is no rush and have only just started looking at this branch of the family and have found more puzzles.

Just a holding post to say that I have looked at the record but there's a lot of typing involved and I had to go to a meeting tonight.

I'll start tomorrow evening - it may come in instalments!

Oh wow, I wasn't expecting all that information. Quite a surprise they had insurance, £40. It was very sad that his brother died on the morning of his funeral home though.
Thanks for your help, you are a star Christine.
