Hi Angela

Thanks everso.  It looks like this man is going to be hard to track down, I've tried everwhere to find him (I can't help thinking there is something amiss with the info on army or marriage cert), I think you're right I'm going to have to spend some pennies and get the death certificate, which'll hopefully give me a few more clues.  I'll post again when I get it but thanks for trying.

Hi Angela

Got the death cert but it doesnt say much, just that he died 11 Dec 1892 and 33 he was a Stonemason (journeyman), his name was shown as John Patten McNalty, and the address is the right one for the family.

looks like I'll not be going much further with this one

Thanks for your help

I am looking for information on a Yuill family that resided in High Church Paisley in 1860 and Abbey, Paisley in 1861.  Dugald Yuill (b. 1836) and his wife Janet Cochrane (b. 1839).  Dugald was the son of James Yuill (b. 1806) and Margaret Hardie (b. 1807).  In March 1861, Dugald and Janet had a son James Yull (a bit early as they were only married for 5 months when he was born).

Could you look up the 1851 and 1861 Census for James and Margaret Yuill and Dugald and Janet Yuill?  The Yuill's worked in as weavers in the shawl manufacturing business.  Dugald and his wife and kids came to the US in 1868, settling in NY as a block cutter.  He became moderately successful, owning his own home and remaining active in Scottish clan groups.

Any information on their households would be greatly appreciated.  Not much is known about the family in Scotland and I would love to learn more. Please let me know if you need more information.

Hi Fifer

Just noticed you message posted on 3rd June

Checked Paisley 1851 Census For you but couldnt findthem on either of the films for paisley started to check Glascow itself with the parents being married there but there id 5 films for that district so it may take a while to find them.

Apologies for not answering it earlier, but as previously said, have only just found it.

Thanks for looking, and keeping my fingers crosssed that you may still be able to locate them.
