Photographs of Royal Berkshire regiment?
« on: Wednesday 07 April 10 22:48 BST (UK) »

 Hi all,

Can anyone please identify these soldiers and give me an approx date -
I'm hoping that they may be part of the Royal Berkshire regiment?
Both photographs have  'post card' style backings and as some of the men appear in both, I assume they were taken about the same time.
I'd also like to ask why there appears to be quite a few different types of cap badge in the smaller group and what uniform the man, second left in the front row, is wearing.
Do the two dogs in the larger group photo have any significance?

         Thanks

Have you tried the Great War Forum http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums . They would have the best idea.

I don't think any of them belong to Royal Berks, as this has a dragon as it's emblem. I think one of the cap badges is Royal Fusileers, another possibly Army Service Corps but not sure. Don't recognise any of the others.

I can confirm that none of your men in either image are in the Royal Berkshire Regiment. The previous message is correct their badge is a China Dragon.

Thank you both for your replies.

Well that's confused things, looks like it may not be the person I thought it was in the photos.

Thanks again for your thoughts and I'll look at the web site.
