HAXTONs of Fife - help please
« on: Wednesday 23 March 05 20:44 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I've just found a new branch for my family - my 4xgreat grandfather was john Haxton, possibly of Markinch, who was a church minister. I've found that he gave a collection of bibles to the University of Edinburgh - the haxton collection.

John married Jamet Low in 1858 in Edinburgh, and had  8 children. the first 6 were born in Fife, in Leslie, Kinross, Dunfermline, Markinch and Auchterderran between 1859 and 1875 -  I'm assuming that his work meant he moved alot - the last two were born in London.

If anyone recognises this man, or can help in any way with information or advice on how to trace his family, please let me know?

thanks very much

Amanda
