Rognvaldsson, Earl of Orkne
« on: Friday 09 April 10 05:58 BST (UK) »
This is on mother's side of the family.  Can anyone shed any light on this person.
I also have reference to Earl of the Hebrides, Hvarflad (Svanlaug) (Nereid) Hlodversdatter.
Any info would be appreciated.
Cheers Vicki

Hi Vicki  :)

I'm sure you will already have done a web search for info, but I thought I'd post this anyway:
http://www.american-pictures.com/genealogy/persons/per05478.htm

Most of the info about "Earls of Orkney" seems to be on American genealogy sites, and also appears to be unsourced, so not sure how much credence you should give to it.  I'm sure some Rootschatters more knowledgeable than me about Orkney will be along soon and will be able to help you.

Cheers
Prue

Thanks for your reply, I did search the web but did not come up with anything.  Maybe I was looking in the wrong place.  I will follow your web address and have a look.  There are some queer names on the list I have e.g. Forojotsson King of Kvenland (185 - ), Jokull frostasson and m karasson

Thank you for your reply.  I have had a quick look around the website you suggested.  Very interesting indeed.
Lots of follow-up to be done.
