1871 / 1881/ 1891 census-- Completed
« on: Monday 12 April 10 02:45 BST (UK) »
Long shot here. looking for a family by the name of Rollins. Not sure of parents but I have funeral cards for two children Alice who passes away in April 1877 / b-1873 and Emma Selina passed away also in April 1877, b-1876. BMD shows their birth in Aston. Burial and death show Alrewas and Litchfield. Can any one tell me if there is a family they may be connected to.

Thanks
Rodney

Hi Rodney,

www.familysearch.org

Emma Selina Rollins
Christening 26 April Alrewas, Staffordshire
Father Thomas Rollins, mother Ann

Other children christened in the same batch to parents Thomas and Ann:
Arthur 28 April 1878
Thomas 26 Oct 1879

The 1881 census shows a matching Rawlins family at Alrewas:

Very useful! I'm going to need to try to track Thomas and Ann back to see who they are (Ann's maiden name) The funeral cards I mentioned were kept for a reason so I'm trying to find how the family was connected to our tree. If you have a chance could you see if you can find the marriage of Thomas and Ann?

Thanks
Rodney

I'm thinking I may have solved this one but willing to have a second opinion. Thomas Rollins 1847(Rawlins) in 1881 lived with wife Ann-1844 and their two children Arthur and Thomas. I found a marriage for a Thomas Rollins to a Ann Fletcher on Jul 11 1869 Warwick , England. I believe Ann Fletcher is the sister to William Fletcher who married Eleanor Crossley. They had a daughter Ann Fletcher (named after her aunt) who married a Francis Pott. Francis was the brother to my great grandfather. This would explain why they kept the funeral cards of Alice and Emma Selina Rollins who's parents were Thomas and Ann Rollins. Eleanor Crossley was also my Great great great grandmother. Twisted but makes logical sense.
Dose any one have an opinion?

Thanks
Rodney

A 1869 marriage looks likely. I see Thomas and Ann were shown as married in 1871, living at Aston Warwickshire with a daughter Emma age 7 months.

Tracing Ann Fletcher back to 1851, it looks like her parents were John and Ann. Back in 1841, there's a William Fletcher age 11 in the household.
