Thank you Tressle.  I did think that perhaps he died in a different area.  If he died between his marriage to Eliza in October 1890 and when the 1891 Census was taken in April, I guess that is a very short time frame.

Am tossing up whether he was already married and Eliza had worked this out and given him the boot or if he actually died.

Received a marriage certificate for William Dudley White, the chap tressle mentioned in the 1871 Census, the 29 year old bootmaker, married to Mary White, aged 45 years born Northamptonshire, Digley.

The marriage certificate states William Dudley White aged 22 years, bachelor shoemaker, married Mary Hughes a spinster, aged 38 years.  William states his father is William White a Shepherd and Mary's father is John Hughes (deceased) a shoemaker.  The marriage took place at the Register Office on 27 January 1864.

I have found William White in 1871, 1861 and 1851 and also Mary in 1871, 1861 and 1851.  However have not been able to find either in 1881.

I thought he might be the William Dudley White who married Eliza Fanny Garbutt in 1890.
