Looking for John William Woodruff after 1901

Hi,

Can anyone help me to find the above man after 1901 please.

He was living at 1 Cooks Cottages, Carlton Green in 1901. He also went under the name of William Woodruff. He was born 1864 in Gibraltar when his father was serving with the Buffs. They eventually settled in the Dover area. 1871 he is in barracks in Cheriton with his parents and siblings.

He married Mary Strood in Shepherdswell in 1889. They had 4 children.

1891 he was a Ship's Stoker and 1901 he was a Navvy.

By 1911 his wife Mary is 'Housekeeper' to a carter called Reynolds, living in Temple Ewell with her children to William and 2 other daughters who look like they could be the Carter's daughters!

No sign of William on 1911 or in deaths in England.

Any help would be most welcome!

I have Just recently come across your posting, and sadly there seems to have been no response, most unusual. Have you managed to get more information since your posting?

I am trying to confirm a DNA connection with Mary (Strood) Woodruff, but have 'hit a brick wall' in determining the connection with the daughter, Gertrude Woodruff (1902-1970). I understand she married Percy Albert Gilbert in 1921. Did she also later marry someone named Smith?

Perhaps you can help me.

There is a William Woodruff age 41 from Kent who goes to Sydney Australia arriving 16 October 1905.

Could that be him?

1911 census Mary is truthful says she has 9 children 4 living 5 deceased.

She was just counting the ones from her legitimate marriage.

Doris Agnes 1909    they would appear to Arthur Reynolds children if William Woodruff left 1905.
