Hi Neil

Could you tell us please, what you already know about William BOYCE and his son Henry ?

Was William's wife & Henry's mother, Maria PHILLIPS ?

Hi again Neil

These BOYCE daughters, are proving very difficult to find.   :D

I am wondering if there might be transcription errors with the passenger list for the "David. G. Fleming" - arrived Lyttelton,  9 December 1863.  ?

BOYCE family

William (40) - Carpenter - Cheshire

Maria ( 32)

Eliza* Ann (15)

Eliza* Jane (9)

Henry  (5)      Catherine  (3)    Mary M.  (infant)

I especially query there being two "Eliza's" (though understand the second-named "Eliza" (Jane) may well be an abreviation for the name "Elizabeth ?)

I've found what looks to be this same family, living in London in 1861.    (See next post.)

1861

BOYCE - William - 41 - Cabinetmaker journeyman - b. Ireland
BOYCE - Maria - 32 - wife - b. Liverpool
BOYCE - Robert - son - 15 - scholar - b. Liverpool
BOYCE - Elizabeth J. - 7 - dau - scholar - b. Liverpool
BOYCE - Henry J. - 3 - son - scholar ? - born Liverpool
BOYCE - Sarah C. - 1 - born London, Middlesex
RG09/101/114/3/EDist. 6/Pancras/Middlesex/London
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Note:   "Robert - aged 15"  - but no "Eliza Ann" as per the passenger list.
"Sarah C. aged 1 year" may well be the child known as "Catherine" ?
Native place "Cheshire" (on pass. list) is also at odds ?

Haven't found anything yet which might be the births of these children (the Liverpool-born ones).

FREE BMD (UK) has this birth, which may or may not, be the Mary M. BOYCE ?

BIRTHS - DEC - 1862

BOYCE - Mary Mahoney

Reg'n. District :   London City
      ???

Hi Neil

Not sure if you are familiar with the "familysearch" website ?

It has the following "submitted" entry :
[A submitted entry is one which has been added by a member of the LDS church - or someone else.   No source is given for the information published, so it needs to be treated with caution, and further verified with official records.]

Catherine BOYCE - born 1860 - Cheshire

Parents:
James William BOYCE - b. 1824 - Lancashire
Annie Marie PHILLIPS

Date of Marriage:  3 March 1853 - Lancashire

Children:

Eliz Ann BOYCE - b. 1848 - Lancashire
Eliz Jane BOYCE - b. 1854 - Cheshire
Catherine BOYCE - b. 1860 - Cheshire

Hi Neil

As you can see there are similarities with the information from the passenger list / the census return / and the "familysearch" entry.

The following marriage is shown at the FREE BMD website.

MARRIAGE - MAR - 1853

BOYCE - William

Brides:  Either ... Mary McDONALD / Mary Ann ROSS or Maria PHILLIPS

Registration District:   Liverpool  (Lancashire)

Hi Neil

I note on the entry at "familysearch" (even though they have "James William BOYCE") that this man apparently died in 1864.

I see also that there is a death at Christchurch (Barbadoes Street Cemetery) which would seem to be same person (name is given as William BOYCE - buried 19 September 1864.) ?

NZ BDM (online) have two William BOYCE deaths in 1864 - one though states an age at death of 42 years ?
Added:   1864/ 3047 - William BOYCE - 42 years - date of death - 17 September 1864 :

*   Is that your William ?
