Information on death certificate? COMPLETED
« on: Sunday 25 April 10 07:41 BST (UK) »
Can any one please tell me if the information on a death cert in the first quarter of 1901 will give me more info. than one say in 1888.   I don't want to order one for my g.g. grandmother if it's not going to tell me any more information than I already know, i.e. would it give a place of birth or parents names?   I know the names of informants are helpful but in this case she died in hospital.   And what year did changes on information, if any, occur?

Thank you

Hi Bullet,

From the GRO certificate ordering FAQs:
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/faqs-order-online.asp#bmd14

The details contained on a death certificate include:

    * Name, date and place of death.
    * Date and place of birth (before 1969 a certificate only showed age of deceased).
    * Occupation and usual address.
    * Cause of death.
    * The person who gave information for the death registration.

These GRO help sheets are very useful for what is shown on certificates

Marriage Certificate Help Sheet  http://www.rootschat.com/links/072l/

Go back to your orignal post and click on 'modify' you can then add COMPLETED to the end of the title and the mods will see it that way  ;)
