The only registerd birth I can find so far for this name of
William Worthington Breen was registerd on the free BMD
William Worthingon Breen June qtr 1895 Manchester 8d 250.
Seems a long time after that his birth was registerd if he was born in 1858
or his son in 1876
Ecclescake 2003

1901 RG13; Piece: 3712; Folio: 120; Page: 2
William b 1877 and Emma with son William born 1895 and Elsie  6months

Elsie is registered as Worthington

William 6 yrs is presumably the W W Breen registered in Manchester as above

William Worthington Breen married Emma Platt in 1894 in Chorlton - is that right?

Yes all correct - I think Ecclescake has just got her Wms and generations mixed up.  I have all this information - the only thing I was looking for (or hoping for I suppose) was that someone may recognise the info. and maybe know who the ORIGINAL Wm. was, the father of Wm. born 1876.

Hi Rottid,
you must wonder why we keep giving you information you already have  ::)
Believe me, we are really trying to help. Initially we were a bit unclear as to what you knew and didn't know, there has been a lot of guess work (based on what we could glean from census and BMD).

Realistically, with an illegitimate birth it is difficult to find the father.
In your case, the child has been given the name of his 'father' as a middle name, he has handed it on and has then called himself by that name as a surname. (I think).

The William who has been identified re year of birth -c 1858; place - Salford/Pendleton and occupation is only speculative.

If you could find a baptism there may be some information on there re William snr. There aren't that many churches for Salford/Pendleton on Lancashire Online Parish Clerks site so it would be a different approach to research finding the church.

Thank you for that Heywood, I had not thought of trying to find a Baptism.
I'm sorry if I appeared ungrateful. I really did appreciate your efforts but being new to this I felt a little uncomfortable about all details being pulled together in the public forum even though most of it was available for free.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Ecclescake, you said your relative lived at 1 Park Place (James Robinson).
Is that the Park Place just off Cross Lane - if so it is not very far away from the address you quote below for the Worthington family.
Would there be an Edward Robinson in the family around 1886?

  Hi Rottid,
