A simple DNA test will not be terribly good at confirming paternal line links, but will be very good at disproving them.

The link that Debbie gave earlier to FamilyTreeDNA is the one you want. They have just introduced a new product called Family Finder based on some new science that I don't pretend to understand.  ;)
