Hi Missbeeby

I think that what you have to realise is that Family History on the computer is only as good as what the fantastic band of volunteers has transcribed for the rest of us.

In the good old days not that far back, the parish records and the IGI were the only thing that we had to work with.  I spent many days in Wales at the local Record office and the National Library in Aberystwyth searching for those very elusive ancestors.

I do not know where you live , but you might find the answers in the local Record office to where you are looking.  If you are abroad, then hopefully someone on here can help you, other than that you have the option of employing a professional researcher in that area.

Before July 1837 it is only the parish records that will supply you with information.  Many of these have been transcribed by the Local Family History Society, and are avaiable on CD or microfiche.  For about £10 -15 pounds a year you would have access to their data and is well worth joining.  Many are now on the Web.

I hope that this explains this situation for you in simple terms.  It takes many years sometimes to find what you want

Good luck with your search

Hi missbeeby

There are three possibilities  for Joseph Beeby in the IGI
1. JOSEPH BEBY  - Christening: 04 SEP 1781 Medbourne, Leicester, England
2. JOSEPH BEEBE - Christening: 18 MAR 1781 Saint Mary, Hinckley, Leicester, England
3. JOSEPH BEEBY - Birth: 14 SEP 1783 Isley Walton, Leicester, England

These are all extracted records from the Parish Register.

If he is No. 3. his parents are
Father:     THOMAS BEEBY
 Mother:     MARGARET
Stan

As Stan says these are all extracted.
When you use IGI and you see extracted there will be a Batch No on the page.
This is very useful. Copy that number, for No 3 Joseph Beeby. -it is Batch Number: C059801
Go back to IGI search - enter last name Beeby, Region, British Isles , England, Leicester.
Now enter the Batch Number: C059801, and search. Ok now you can see there are 9 Beeby`s baptised at Isley Walton.
Out of those 9, 7 had parents Thomas and Margaret. Possibly siblings.

No 1 Joseph is Batch Number: C034681, there is only one  other entry - Ann Beeby b 1793. parents Thomas / Ann.

No 2 Joseph is Batch Number: C034521 the only other entry there is a Johannes Beeby  chr  01 APR 1627   father Johan Beeby.
Those Beeby`s have been around  a long time  :o

I know this isn`t what you want at the moment, but it is something to remember when you get more used to searching.
This seems like a good site with more details.
http://www.nzsghamilton.co.nz/igi.htm
Good luck. Hope you eventually get back as far as Johan.

I can`t find any extracted marriage for Joseph, BUT found this on a Nottingham  forum .
It may be the reason the record was submitted, it could be correct - but to be 100 % sure you would have to check.

"I was at the FHC recently and spoke to two very knowledgeable volunteers
about St. Mary's Church in Nottinghamshire. It turns out that not all of the
Parish  Registers were microfilmed by FHC, which I didn't realise. This is the
reason  that I can't find my ancestors listed on the IGI. The years that are
missing are  the late 1700's to the very early 1800's and the 1830's to 1850's.
My question is this; does anyone know why these years aren't microfilmed?
Is it possible to write to the church, or how does someone go about
finding these records?"
