Hi polban! I've taken a break from researching for a while but I did have the information on Catherine that you mentioned, thank you! Catherine married Patrick McGovern in the US.  I don't have a date for the marriage but it most likely was prior to 1934 when their first child was born. Thanks for the other siblings birth/death dates. I can fill in Mary Ann's birth date as May 16, 1903. I had John's listed as 1904, however.

smakcanada, unfortunately I don't have any additional information on Patrick Harkin. :(

Polban:
Mary Anne Harkin is the maiden name of my Grandmother.  She was born, in Donegal County, May 16 but would never give out the year.  Catherine, was her sister, and she passed away during the 2nd half of Nov 1971.
My Grandmother Mary Anne brought me to Ireland in 1967, 1973 and 1980.
Her sister Rose, I knew as Rose Evelyn Casey.  She was married to Mr.Robert Casey, he had immigrated to Ireland from Scotland.  Rose and Robert lived in Dungannon.  The had 3 children, 2 boys and a girl, Francis, Anne, and Robby John.
     Any futher questions just ask.

What sort of information are you looking for?
Have you found them in the 1901 and 1911 census yet?

The marriage certificate should list their residences at the time as well as names and occupations of the fathers. You can search for that, as well as births of the children at https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk/
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi aghadowey,
Thanks for your reply and suggestions. My paternal granny was Margaret Toland, and Annie's sister. They were the only 2 of 10 siblings to have children. I am interested in my granny's parents and grandparents, and hoped that I would be able to move forward with the help of Annie's family. She married Hugh Harkin.

When Annie Toland married Hugh Harkin in 1904, she was living in Dunaff, her father was Patrick Toland, this looks like a possibility for her in the 1901 census:

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Donegal/Dunaff/Dunaff/1183521/

The parents in the above census return are Patrick Toland and Margaret Doherty who got married in Clonmany RC parish in 1873, the groom's father was also called Patrick Toland, a farmer, the bride's father was Neil Doherty, a farmer. A third degree dispensation was granted (ie. Patrick Toland and Margaret Doherty were related).

This looks like Hugh Harkin and Annie Toland Harkin in 1911, later children included Bridget b. 1913 and Neil  b. 1916 (both registered Co. Donegal) and Mary b. 1920 (registered Co. Londonderry).

Thank you so much Gaffy for taking the time to help me. I really appreciate it. I am curious to know how you know that Patrick and Margaret Toland needed a dispensation to marry?
