I've been looking at this for the last half hour.  It certainly looks like William Mabbs was Charles' grandfather, but I cannot find William on other census's.  There is a James Mabbs & family b 1814 Rotherhithe....he could be a relation....
I'm not young enough to know everything.

I'm beginning to think Mabbs is a mistranscription, but it seems a co-incidence that there is a James, also born in Rotherhithe

Hi

I have not found a marriage between a Lunn and a Mabbs, but of course if it is a second marriage for the mother she would not have married as a Mabbs.

Seems odd that the registration clearly states Charles Lunn.  What was the father's name on the Charlotte Lunn certificate?

Perhaps he was not born a Lunn as you say?

I would send for his marriage certificate and see if you can get the full father's details.
