Grace Jefferies Baptism - Potton c.1905
« on: Friday 30 April 10 16:43 BST (UK) »
Not sure if the available records go up to this date, but could anyone access the Beds Baptism Registers to see if there is a record of a baptism for Grace Jefferies (born 12 March 1905 in Potton) please? Hoping to find parent's names (father is, I think, called William Jefferies).

Any help greatly appreciated.

Tara

Have you got the details from the 1911 census ?

Using the index I find there is an entry for Grace Jefferries born 1905 Potton living in Potton; but there are no other Jefferies in the household, but the relationship to head is niece.

Have you got a marriage for her later on in her life ?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have the details from the 1911 census but, as you say, unfortunately she's not living with her parents at the time.

I have her marriage certificate, which states her father is William Jefferies, Market Gardener.

Since the last posting, I believe I have now traced her father as a William J Jefferies, born about 1875 in Tempsford, Bedfordshire. However, I am still having trouble tracing her mother. From the 1911 census, I am working on the assumption that her mother's maiden name is either Clarke or Green, but can't find a marriage of a William Jefferies to either at the moment.

While at the Beds Archives I've just checked the Potton baptisms for 1905 onwards (for a few years) & I could find no entries for Jefferies.

On FreeBMD there's a marriage in Bigglewade RD in Sept 1904 of a John William N Jefferies to Ada Clark - any good ?

She's not the Ada Clarke born Potton, age 21 in a priory in Hampstead

As found on 1901 census

RG13/125 Folio 102 Page 35

Probably not.. I'm trying to correlate Ada Clark(e) on 1901 with Ada Jefferies on 1911... You have a go.
