Wow Wozzle, Geoff and Trish, thank you ever so much, must have tried loads of spelling variations for 1901 & never found them last night. After a quick dash from one end of the country to the other today, I arrive to find this lovely surprise. Greatly appreciated.

Trish, thanks a million, trying to surprise a new friend with her family history, she will be amazed when its all put together. Have to re-read all the information you posted. At a quick glance it looks as if I am also looking for a marriage of a Bowness to Margaret according to the 1841 census you found. I know that Thomas was married in Dec 1917 to Hannah Fisher (I have also found his children - my friends father etc) Thomas then went off to Canada in 1924. Although I've found a Form 30a, have'nt actually found the passenger list for the Montroyal. (This is of interest because I think he may have been part of a group from Cleator Moor,  Cumberland that also included my husbands grandfather - small world !!)  Thomas did intend to permanently live there but as far as I can tell he must have returned & died in Cumberland 1931. I can see from Egremont Cemetery Records that alot of the Bowness family are buried at Egremont.  You are a star, many thanks
