Well, there's absolutely nothing to confirm that any of these are yours, but they might be linked:
Lesley C Woolsey married Eileen S Smith Q 1 1940, Dartford
Vol 2a page 2797
James Woolsey married Winifred V Smith Q1 1928, Yarmouth
Vol 4b, page 49.
They are the only 2 I can see where the groom is Woolsey and the bride is Smith.

I'd suggest that you start by ordering a copy of Brian's birth certificate which should give you his mother's full name.    If it's either Eilen or Winifred then one of these might give you a clue.   If it's not then you've lost nothing and at least you have the full name of the Miss Smith you are trying to track down.

Oddly enough I think it can sometimes be harder to track people in the mid 20th century than it is in the mid 19th.   Good luck

Thank you for all of this. My gut feeling is that this Smith was a Yarmouth one because I have come across another connection in that area.

Hi,

My father was Brian Woolsey born 21 Jan 1940. He died in Newquay 31.07.1993. He married my Mother Lesley Anne Widdicombe in Great Yarmouth.

Perhaps this is the Brian you are looking for?

Samantha, welcome to Rootschat.

You and Ligularium might prefer to exchange details by PM (private message )rather than the public board, but you need to have posted 3 times before you can send one.

I've sent Ligularium a PM to let them know you have posted your message here.

 :)Hi Erros

Thanks for the message.

As Maggie said it will be good to exchange PMs.

First you need to post three times as she said, so how about I ask a couple of simple questions just to make sure it is the same Brian Woolsey I am trying to find details about and that will give you another chance to post.

Can you tell me if he had any hobbies in his early years?

Have you any idea where he was living in the early 1960s? Just the name of the county is sufficient.

Can you tell me where he married your mum?

Looking forward to your reply.

Hi,

Brian was always called Bru and his hobby was pottery- he was a brilliant potter, artist and photographer.
