James Stokoe, Ann Hird

I am Searching for any info on the marriage of James Stokoe (b. abt.1814) to Ann Hird, Heird, or Herd (b. abt 1814) married aprox 1834 or 1835 in Northcumberland, or Durham (ie: brothers sisters parents).

The 1841 census shows them living in Shincliffe, Durham England. Household includes: James (Jas) age 37, & Ann age 36, James age 16, John age 14, Jane age 12, Ann Eliz age 6,  Hanny age 3, Treza age 1.

They immigrated to the USA (Fulton County Illinois) approx 1853, there they had 2 more children, Sarah & Ambrozina.

I have much info on the younger James (my gr gr Grandfather) but not much on the rest of the family. any help would be appreciated. Thanks D Stokoe

I think you must mean the 1851 census - I see this household, in South Hetton, Haswell with a census reference of HO107/2392/358/37.  James snr is enumerated as born Shincliffe, Ann as born Skipton, Yorks.

Have you found them in 1841?

I see that in 1851 children James (16), John (14) and Jane (12) were enumerated as born in Skipton, Yorks, like their mother.
