Hi

'St George's has been considered a fashionable church almost from its beginning and it's popularity kept rising until it hit about 1,000 weddings a year in Regency times. The record was set in 1816 with 1,063 weddings, about three a day, making St George's a Regency equivalent to a Las Vegas Wedding Chapel!'

All types of people married at St George Hanover Square. By tradition you married in the woman's parish. Only three weeks residency was required if the marriage was by banns. Since paying for banns was an expensive business one partner often moved for a short duration into the same parish to avoid the necessity of paying for banns to be called in two different parish churches. Many young women worked as servants in London before their marriages.

The marriage parish registers for St George Hanover Square are not on the IGI  but are on Pallots Marriage index (there doesn't seem to be a relevant entry). It might be worth checking Boyds marriage index. Ancestry's coverage of Westminster parishes is poor as the London Metropolitan Archives does not hold those parish registers only some Bishop Transcripts (the yearly copies of the registers that were supposed to be made and sent to the Bishop).

Their first child was Thomas b. 1794 Merton
This whole thing is a puzzle, I just wish they didn't always, use, John, Thomas or William with no middle name, it makes it so hard to trace them.
Thanks everybody
