Skegness St Clements 1948 Burial Grave - Doxey
« on: Monday 03 May 10 22:05 BST (UK) »
I hope that this is the appropriate place to ask.  I am trying to establish if my Great Grandfather William Doxey is buried at Skegness St Clements in 1948.
Thanks
Chris

His death was registered in the Louth registration district which does not incorporate Skegness

Spilsby was the registration district for Skegness

St Clements looks like it has been deposited in Lincoln Archives so you may be able to get a look up.

I see since I started posting CarolW has posted his death is registered in a different district.  Do you think he could have been bought back to St Clements for burial, is that where he lived?

Thanks to Carole and Tressle for such quick replies.  All I have been able to establish is that his wife Mary Ann is buried at St Clements (this was from a web site) and we know that they lived at Skegness.  Her death would have been registered by my grandparents in Notts as she died at their house.  I guess William may have died with or at a home close to one of his other relatives in Lincolnshire.  His age for the Louth entry is as expected.

William was 83 when he died in 1948 so birthyear approx 1865. The 1901 shows Mary Ann was b 1869 Notts and William was b Derbyshire.  They were living in Derbyshire in 1901 and Worksop in 1911

The only death I can find is a Mary A Doxey aged 90 died 1958 Worksop

Louth to Skegness is approx 23 miles but Notts to Skegness is approx 70 miles

Which website is the info from re: Mary Ann's burial?

Had to think hard and check and see it was www.freereg.org.uk
There are others but no Doxeys at http://skegnessvideo.com/2009/12/burials-in-st-clements-church-skegness/

Yes, Mary Ann's death was registered in the Worksop area as she died whilst staying with my grandparents at Bawtry.  My father told me she lived at Skegness.

Found it - if you also put Mary - it returns a nil search result
