Can someone help
« on: Tuesday 04 May 10 19:42 BST (UK) »
Looking up my Great Great Grandfather Jan Hendrick Vorstuis who was born in 1827 and died in 1879 It claims he had a son called George A Vorstuis who was born in 1911 which would have made Jan 59 when he had him I am trying to find out if this is right. I do hope someone can help me solve this.
Thank You
Regards
Tina.

Hi Tina,
Welcome to RootsChat

Unfortunately your dates don't make sense how could George A Vorstuis be born in 1911 if his father Jan Hendrick Vorstuis died in 1879.

Henry George Vorstius married Clara Jane Hall in 1910 - she was a widow, formerly Adams.   Henry was a widower, formerly married to Jane Mercy Biggs in 1898, his surname recorded as Vorstins as it was in 1901 census.  She died 1906.

Henry George shown as born circa 1878 SE London.

Also look at 1911 Census.

This looks like a good bet for Henry's birth:

Births Dec 1877
VORSTIUS  Henry George     St. Saviour  1d 44

(St Saviour is in the London Borough of Southwark nowadays, just south of the River Thames).

You can order his birth certificate from here which would confirm his parent's names http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/
