Hello: I am just starting a search on behalf of my mother . We are trying to find out information about her mother and her family.
My mother was born March 1929, we think in and around Monasterevin. She had a sister Ann and another sister Eileen born and died in 1934. I have located their birth records. Her father was Edward Cullen who died in the 1970s in Clonbullogue, Offaly. Her mother Eileen Behan died as a young woman , we think in 1934. My mother was sent to live with aunts in the United States in the late 1930s and while she returned to Ireland and visited her father and sister , she knows nothing about her mother.
She believes her mother may be buried in Yew Tree Cemetery in Monasterevin. Her mother's mother may have been a Dempsey. We were told her mother was an only child.
When she married Edward Cullen, they lived on a farm that came through her family which burned down after my mother's mother died. The property may have eventually passed to a family named Keogh. Any information you could give us about Eileen Behan would be great. Looking to see if perhaps a gravestone might have been transcribed somewhere.
