Baptismal record help
« on: Wednesday 05 May 10 19:12 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Could somebody interpret the names of the parents and the sponsors on this certificate.
the fathers  name is supposed to be Eugene field,
but it looks more like owen field to me.
Thanks

Donovan, Field(Cork, Ireland)

Hi,

The sponsors look like Jeremiah McSwiney (probably related to the mother, Ellen McSwiney) and Honora Quinlan
Best wishes, Judy :-))

I'd say the father is definitely Owen.

Looks as if the priest was related to the mother, too.

Thanks very much,
thats strange because as i said before the father, according to the marriage cert,is meant to be eugene field.

There must be a mix up somewhere,i wonder if this could be a different  patrick field.

thanks again

I have found that Owen and Eugene are interchangeable in Ireland.

I have a friend who has Cork rellies and we were terribly confused by it at first  ;D
