date ideas please
« on: Thursday 06 May 10 21:49 BST (UK) »
Hi folks,
Can anyone tell me when this was taken and what age the subjects are likely to be please? I think these are likely to be relatives of Johnstons who lived in 31 Close Street so the photographer would be handy !! I would love to trace who they are but only have this photo. Thanks for having a look .

Lovely...mid 1880s, about 1885 or so with the three-quarter sleeving. Beautiful photo.

Age...maybe about 25 or so?

Cheers,

Gorgeous eyes on both Mom and daughter. You are very lucky to have such a nice family photo.

Tend to agree that mid 1880's for dating the picture. Age of woman early to mid 20's and young girl 2 - 3.

Why don't you ask for colouring and see what comes up? :D

The 1881 has a Richard Murray aged 46, artist and landscape painter, living at 11 Close St, Carlisle. Perhaps he did photography too?

Could that be a little boy? Were little girls dressed in thick woolen socks at that age?
