Offer and Link : Convicts of Lincolnshire

See below.   There is 16 pages of prisoners in this book. APPENDIX   the following list of men sent from Lincolnshire to Bermuda . There they were' Employed in boring and blowing rocks and making breakwater and other public works in the dockyard at Ireland ,Island

These are just a few who were sent to Bermuda from Lincolnshire there are another 28 prisoners in this list

The Prison Chapel. Crimes and Sentences. Calender of Prisoners. Punishment. The Hulks.Transportation.The Voyages. the book also has a lot of pictures of cells. Solitary Confinement. the Chapel. a list of Felon Prisoners dating back to 1705. Death Sentences
Names of ships for transport.Conditions. and as I said 16 pages of the names of these convicts If you think you had a convict in your family history from Lincolnshire I would love look it up for any one interested.  Please start a new topic on the Look Up requests board or pm me.

Hi I found two books on Convicts of Lincolnshire  in a opp shop in Warrnambool Victoria Australia they cost me $4-00 dollars
This list is in Chronological order and names of Convicts transported from the county of Lincolnshire to Australia between 1789 and 1840
It has been compiled by C.I.Anderson B.A. (HONS) Open University of Horncastle Lincolnshire from sources contained in Public Records Office London and Kew, Lincolnshire
Archives Offices,Lincoln Reference Library.

List of Abbreviations:
NSW:New South Wales VDL:Vans Diemans Land  BBS:Boston Borough Sessions
Ass:Lincoln Assizes KQS: Kesteven Quarter Sessions CIT: City Sessions
LQS: Lindsay Quarter Sessions GBS:Gainsborough Borough Sessions HQS:Holland Quarter Sessions LBS:Louth Borough Sessions SBS:Spalding Borough Sessions
This book is in alphabetic order
First it starts with Name, Age, Date, Place Sentence, Origin, Year Place Ship

Hi Karen,

I am interested in learning more re my convict ancestor George MORGAN, of Wyberton, Lincs. He was tried at the Lincoln Assizes on 27 July 1816 for Highway robbery.  He was sentenced to Death, commuted to Transportation for 14 yrs, sent to Australia in 1817 (on "Almorah" then "Pilot" and died at Port Arthur, Tasmania, Australia in 1840. He was said to be 25 years old when tried (so born circa 1791).

Any info would be lovely.

Dear Andrea The only info I found was the same as you gave me
George Morgan aged 25 sentenced to 14 years for Highway Robbery sailed on the ship
Almorah to New. South Wales 1817 reference number KQS A/2/411/111
Also some one was kind enough to put the site just above your message
