Byrne Family farm - Baltyboys.
« on: Monday 10 May 10 09:50 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I am researching my husbands family who were the Byrnes from Baltyboys, they had a farm in that area that was part of the Drowning of Poulaphouca.  John Byrne was born on 19th July 1896 is my husbands great grandfather, Johns father was James Byrne and His mother was Catherine Pender. John married Mary Quinn in 1920. Any information or photos that anyone has would be great.

Thanks you :) :)

Welcome to Rootschat. The 1911 census is online (and 1901 census to be added June 2010)- have you found the family there yet?

How about other sources like Griffith's Valuation?
See introduction to Irish records-

Is this the family on the 1911 census :

Byrne household, Boystown or Baltyboys Lower

The couple are married 15 years so about 1895, and have two children at the time, both living at home. The marriage should be listed on the civil index (link included in the introduction topic posted by aghadowey). Do you know Catherine's maiden name ? Pender

Both the parents are born before civil registration started in 1864, so church records would be required to find details of their birth.

Hi Shane,

Luckily for me someone else in the family has done a lot of the basic searching for names etc.  I was just wondering if there was anyone else out there who had any more info.

dont know if you already have this, but found a possible marriage match for Catherine in the right area :

 Name: Kate Pender
 Registration District: Baltinglass
 Event Type: Marriage
Quarter and Year: Apr - Jun 1895
 Volume No. : 2 / Page : 400

I dont see a cross match to John but the index search is unreliable at the moment.

Also what website do you use, I had been using the Irish family history website, but it has been costing me a small fortune, at 5 euros per record, if I get it wrong it a lot to keep losing.
