Mary GODBORROW, Headon
« on: Monday 10 May 10 21:31 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find a baptism for Mary GODBORROW who married William FRIGNALL at Headon, Notts in 1777. I am expecting a birth year of around the 1750s. Godborrow seems rather a rare surname in all of England, nevermind just Notts...so I'm at a bit of a loss of where Mary came from. I'm assuming the slightly more common variants Godbrough/Goodborough are the same surname.

Thanks! :D

Hi Alexander

Nothing showing on the Notts FHS baptism CD for Mary.

The marriage entry states William Frignal was from Walesby and Mary Godborrow of this parish. Witnesses were Thos Smith & John Harrison.
Banns read 12,19 & 26 Oct 1777.

Thanks for the information, Carol. I really wonder where Mary came from...she just seems to have appeared out of nowhere. Perhaps she came from out of the county, or was just from one of those smaller parishes that are not covered in any indexes. Or maybe she just wasn't baptised at all.
