Archibald LITTLE probably COMPLETED
« on: Tuesday 11 May 10 12:41 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know of an Archibald Little, born about 1869 and probably in Ireland (maybe Scotland) who went to the I.O.M. ?
We're beginning to think he may have emigrated further.
(Father John Little b 1840).

Further info: If he is the one I have now found in Dublin in 1901, (and I think he is) he was born in Scotland. He may have left Ireland after this, not there in 1911; did he then go to the I.O.M?

Hello Alison  :)

Nothing is showing for him in I of M  in 1911 in the free index search

If he was born in Scotland, you might be lucky as all births registered in Scotland from 1855 to approx 1875 are on the IGI

If he was bon in Scotland circa 1869, then there are two births showing -  1868 and 1870.

21 May 1868, Anderston, Glasgow Parents - John Little and Catherine Sheridan*
9 March 1870, Ettrick, Selkirk  Parents - James Little and Beatrice Douglass

* just seen that you say that his father was John , so this might be him

Regards

Have birth, that's OK.
It seems his father John Little moved to Ireland about 1868-70, as his last son Alex was born there.
He (Archie) was in Dublin (if I'm right) in 1901, then not in 1911.
(He's in as 'Archibold' in 1901.)

So, not in IOM either in 1911, thanks.
Parents, John Little and Margaret MAY. Was he in Scotland?
(or should I be putting this in the Scottish thread?)

It's my dad's notes that said he went to the IOM, but if he did, then it was after 1901....no, after 1911, that's right.

The birth was 30th May 1866, Glasgow Central  rather than 1869.

1911 census not yet available for Scotland.

You are right - sorry, my mistyping.
There doesn't seem to be any way to move forward from here.
Anywhere to look for emigrations from Ireland to the IOM?

Hi again Alison  :)

Have you got any other info about him - did he marry, childrens' names, places of birth,  when did he die,  occupation, etc.

Some things that we don't need to rely on census info for  :-\

Hi Alison  :)

I think I might have found him on the free index in Birkenhead if he married an Adelaide.

Did he have the following children - David; Elizabeth, Isabel, Archibald and Albert

I can only give you the info from the free index search on here.
