Henry Wihelm Rogers Bond

I found on Family Search  christening date for the above as May 1874 Madras ,Tamil Nadu ,India with parents John Henry Bond and mother Rose Margaret. He ended up in Wales and married Rosina Amelia Johnstone in 1896

I found John Henry Bonds birth as Jul 1835 in Madras also with parents John Bond and Anna .

How can I find out more about this family, curious to know their nationality and what they where doing there . Grateful for help

Tamil Nadu was under the rule of the East India Company in the 18th century, as was most of southern India. Prior to that there were many European trading companies in the south, particularly the Dutch, which could explain the "Wilhelm" part of the name, and the Portugese. Perhaps the family had connections with, or worked for, one of these companies.
There were plenty of jobs for ex-pats in the civil service, the railways, revenue collection, and the justice system, and plenty of opportunities for entrepreneurial foreigners to make money.

In 1858 the rule passed over to the British Government.

I have just received the certificate of Henry Wilhelm Baptist 1874 but it says he was born in 1824 .
I appears to be the right man on his marriage certificate His birth date is 1874 .

His father and mother are John Henry Bond and Rose Margaret (I was hoping for a surname pre marriage .
Their address was given as Semboodoss Street Black Town Madras  and he was a Indexer Revenue Board Office. How can I find out their nationality

I contacted the British Library regarding a marriage cert for John Henry Bond and Rose Margaret
They cant find one in Tamil Nadu and want £36 to do a full search of India  UG
I found more children besides Henry from this relationship
Ada Florence 1866
Catherine Clare 1879
Percy O 'Sullivan Bond abt1869,
Jessie Mildred Violet Bond abt1880
I cant see them marrying  elsewhere as I have a birth for John Henry in Tamil Nadu in 1835 and I know John worked for Revenue Board as an indexer

His parents were John Bond and Anna married Tamil Nadu 1834

Could it be like Rupert Penry Jones that John Henry married a native and thats why her name before marriage is not mentioned .
Are there any records in India ?Anyone know of a genealogist  there .
I am determined to get to the bottom of it

LDS Pilot site lists 3 of the children of John and Rose-

It is quite common for baptismal registers to list only mother's first name(s) and not her maiden name so that's no indication of her origins.
