OK I couldn't resist ....

I've found this
1891 4 Silver Cottages
Lambeth

Edward Y Goatley husband (! - never seen this written before!) married 41 Tailor b Worceshire (I imagine this must be Worcestershire?)
Marria wife mar 29 charwoman b Lambeth London
Florence daur 10 do
Edward V son 7 do
William J 4 do
Alice M 3 months

RG12/418/121/26

The only marriage I could find on Freebmd is:
Mar 1883
Edward Goatley
Maria Armstrong
Westminster
1a 774
(IF this is the correct marraige then Florence was illegitimate, however Edward may still be the father)

I couldn't find a birth for Florence Goatley around 1881, but I did find this:
Births Mar 1881
Armstrong Florence
Lambeth
1d 431

Of course this is all speculation and certificates would need to be purchased to prove/disprove this.   :)

1881
Edward Goatley unmar 26 Tailor b Worcestershire (no relationship to head of family given)
living Lambeth with Barker family
RG11/622/85/45

1871
Edward Goatley umnar 16 apprentice Tailor b Worcester
living 12 Arthur's Tce - head is Samule Ponsford, Tailor
RG10/266/56/6

1861
And the most important one where I may find him with parents and siblings, I cannot locate him! But will keep looking.

This is the closest I could find on Freebmd:
births Mar 1852
Goatley Edward Worcester 6c 281

Of course if Edward is NOT Florence's father you may not wish to include Edward on your tree.  :) Her birth certificate may be worth purchasing as on her marriage certificate she may name Edward as he was her mother's husband, even if he was not her biological father.

I will leave the search there until you receive some more concrete evidence via certificates.

Ok so I'm back.

Still havent got the marriage certificate - funds issue there.  I hit google and found an auntie in law looking as well and she got a reply of a  Woolhouse whose mothers maiden name was Goatley.

I tried FreeBMD and found this:

*removed*

I definitely think it is a close relative and the surname is Goatley instead of Coatley.

Hi that is looking good, I think you are right that she was Florence Goatley rather than Coatley :D

However details of living or recently departed people should not be posted here for privacy reasons  - since the gentleman in question may still be alive you need to remove his details.

Keep us posted with anything further you discover or if you need more help

Jan ;)

Added - if the death Daisy found is your man then you'll be OK leaving his details up!
