Hello Chris
I am confident that your husband's ancestor William (bap. 1815) and my ancestor Charles (bap 1826) were brothers and were children of Charles Hogg and Agnes Cochrane.

I had not until the last few days tried to follow through on any children  of Charles and Agnes Hogg other than my Charles.  So the fact that I have not found a connection with Youngstown OH does not in any way effect your connection with the USA.

I have been doing a little bit but what I have done confirms what Lenagh has entered earlier in the thread.
She provides for your Duncan in the 1841, 1851 and later censuses which she posted on: Tuesday 10 February 09 20:21 GMT (UK).  Duncan was only 11months in the 1841 Census but I cannot yet find his baptism (I have no ScotlandsPeople credits at the moment).

Let me know if I can help further.

Charles Hogg & Agnes Cochran are my gggggrandparents through their daughter Christian (Christina) Hogg who married James Hamilton (the same couple on the MI posted by Anne). I will post more details as soon as I digest the mounds of information already contributed. Thanks!!

For Lenagh - I've just realised that you're Anne H!

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Hi Anne B,

Yes, it's me!  When I joined RC my usual name seemed to have been taken so decided to go with Lenagh since she is another of my brick walls on my paternal side!   ;)

Hi Donald and welcome to RootsChat!  :)

I haven't looked at my Hogg side for a long time but hope you find some of my previous posts useful!

Do any of you have a connection to Daniel Cochrane bc1840, who married Jane McCanna on 16th September,1864 at22 Monteith Row,Glasgow and had children Mary,Christina,Jane,John,Daniel and Margaret?
Jane, the daughter (was my gt grandmother) married Andrew Hutchison in Kirkintilloch in 1887. They had seven children.
In the photograph my gt grandmother is on the front right and the photograph depicts 5 generations.
She died in SRI on 31Dec.,1961
