Does anyony have a list of MIs for Kilbarchan?  I am looking for Alexander Deans who probably died about 1850. Also any stones with Deans/Todd/Duff.

Hi,

There are two churches with graveyards in Kilbarchan.  If you scroll down on the home page

www.kilbarchaneastchurch.btik.com/p_Home.ikml

for the East church in Steeple Square, you will get to a link - Churchyards and Genealogy which will let you download a plan and list of lair owners.

The record of burials are held locally and if you contact the church, they should be able to put you in touch with the person who has the information.

If they were at the West church, can't help there but suggest contacting them incase this information is still in the church.

As with most things like this, the information is not always fully recored.

Good luck!

Hi Lodger,

Noticed that you are researching Deans and Duff in Kilbarchan.

I haven't looked for gravestones as yet, but my Maternal Great Grandmother's brother, James McCoy or McKay (1870-1951) married Mary Ann Duff (1864-1941) in Paisley in 1909. Mary Ann's family were from Kilbarchan. Her daughter (not with James), Maggie Bryce or Boyce Duff (1884-1955) married Nathaniel Dean (1883-1957). The Dean(s) are a well known Kilbarchan family and, in fact, I live very close to one of the branches of the family :)

Hi Caroline,

This is an old thread from over 9 years ago and I was doing a little research on behalf of a friend of mine. I'm afraid that my friend has lost interest in her family tree now but thanks for the reply, it was kind of you.
