JENKINS, Wales, 1750-1890
« on: Sunday 27 March 05 10:55 BST (UK) »
I know that Jenkins is a Welsh name.  Would love it if someone could tell me if there are particular counties or areas in Wales where Jenkins could be found in the above time period!

I believe my ggggrandmother, Agnes Jenkins, may have come from Wales, and am trying to get a bit of a fix on where to look for her and possibly her family.

Any information would be most welcome!

I'm researching my friend's family & her GrGrandmothers name was Elizabeth ROWLAND nee JENKINS. She was born in Tenby, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Fathers name Richard. Elizabeth married Edwin Thomas ROWLAND Sept 23rd 1883 at St.Pauls, Clapham, Surrey.

Thanks for that, Willow!

I'll keep a note of that.  I still haven't found out about Agnes Jenkins's origins, but I suspect it may have been Flintshire, Denbighshire, or possibly Shropshire.  She married Thomas Martin in St Mary Marylebone in 1802.

Doesn't sound as though there is a connection, but you never know.  I suspect she may still have had relatives there in the latter part of the nineteenth century.
