I hadn't realised just how popular cycle shops were!

Thank you for your help.

Oh yes, there were Cycle Clubs in many villages and young men and young 'laideeeees' would join and go on outings.

My husband has a couple of lovely photographs of such clubs, there should one or two on his website http://framlinghamarchive.co.uk

In 1900 cars were still rare on rural Suffolk roads.

Pat ...

Every time I find an ancestor,
I have to find two more!

SUFFOLK - Pendle, Stygall, Pipe, Fruer, Bridges, Fisk, Bellamy, Sparham - all link to  Framlingham
DERBY - Bridges and Frost (originally Framlingham/Parham)
NOTTINGHAM - Lambert & Selby
BERKSHIRE/then Hammersmith LDN - Fulker
LDN/MDX - Murray, Clancy, Broker, Hoskins, Marsden, Wilson, Sale

GGfather Michael Wilson born Cork, lived Fulham London - moved to Boston USA 1889, what happened next?

Many thanks for your message.
I have now discovered that the family who I was seeking who lived & worked in St Peter's Street worked as tailors & outfitters  ~  the family name was Godbold. When retired from tailoring Mr Godbold started to work part time as a bicycle repairer.
Cycling must have been very popular indeed as I have now discovered that there were several cycle shops very close to each other.

Thanks again,
Treefan.
