Hi to all, have not posted for a while. Wondering if anyone could help me solve a mystery in the 1901 Census?
1901 Census Scotland
George Walker aged 4 born abt 1897
Relationship Grandson

Where Born Rathven Banff
Rego NUmber 152
rego Ditrict Enzie
Civil Parish Rathven
County Banffshire
Address Cowfurrach
House Hold Names
Margaret King 62 Widower
Helen King 24 Daughter
Maggie Kelman 8 Grand Daughter
George Walker 4 Grand son
Helen King is my husbands Grand Mother and Margaret King nee Simpson is his Great Grand Mother, Maggie Kelman is his Great Niece.
But George Walker we have not a clue who his mother or father are, don't think it is Helen, can anyone help in solving this mystery Regards Liz  ???

Hi Liz,

George was Helen's son. He was born as George Walker on June 14th 1898 at Cowfurrach, Enzie (Banff). He was the son of Peter Walker, stillman and Helen King, domestic servant. Birth was registered by both parents (as would be necessary); Peter was of Balmonach, Cromdale.

There is an RCE attached which reads that Helen took action against Peter in 1900 to accept the paternity of his child. He was found to be. At that time, he was staying at No. 22 Glenfield Street, Glasgow.

Thank you so much, Wow that means my husband has another Great Uncle. Boy where can I view that info for my Tree so I can attach it. How wonderful it had me scratching my head. Thank You so much very appreciated Liz Hutchison
