The photograph is far too small.
POSTEES: If possible, PLEASE, scan your images at 300 - 600 dpi, for both ease of restoration and best results
RESTORERS: Feel free to change/improve/colour any restorations posted by myself.  Acknowledgment would be appreciated.

Although you have scanned at 300dpi the image size is only .55 of an inch, try
scanning again at 300dpi to the actual size of the photgraph.

As you can see when I try to increase the size to only 2" height this is what I get.

Thanks guys,

I originally received an e-mailed 72dpi image, which I reset to 300dpi. My mistake lay in retaining the original file size out of concern that a larger file might not attach. Enlarging gives me pretty much the same result that you got, Saddles. Does it helP?

Hi Keitht.

Sorry but no there is little can be done unless you have or can
obtain the original, or ask the owner to scna the full size photo
at 300dpi.

As you can see there is little definition to work with, and you cant
really increase a n emailed image that has been scanned at 72 up
to 300......I have scanned a locket photo at 600dpi and ended up
with a quality A4 print, but you do need the original.

Mike.

Thanks guys. I now have the original, which doesn't look as though it was taken from the insie of a grape.
