Lovett/France/Croydon/Herts connection
« on: Sunday 30 May 10 17:03 BST (UK) »
We have a puzzle, A George LOVETT b.1797 Croydon, area, married a French girl Clothilde TROUVEE b. 1803 St Malo France, had two boys born France, then moved his family to Croydon about 1830'ish, then moved to Hertfordshire where an already established branch of the LOVETTS existed in the Redbourn/Flamsted area, the puzzle is, did his family pre 1797 originate in Herts ?? the fact that he went to live amongst them in the mid 1800's imply he had some sort of connection ?? and anyway, what was he doing in France in the first place, one of Wellingtons soldiery perhaps ?? ( 1815 Waterloo and all that ).
