Two Thomas Farrellys
« on: Sunday 30 May 10 22:51 BST (UK) »
There are Two Thomas Farrellys in Crossafehin, Virginia, County Cavan, Ireland in the 1821 Census. One is 18 and the other is 19 from two different families. How can I eliminate one from the other? Any ideas?

By households. Are they grouped into family units?

Thanks for the reply. Is there another record I could look up to ensure I have the correct Thomas Farrelly? Both are possible candidates...

Tithe, Flax, Rent Books Maruis of Headford etc....

Irish death certificates do not list names of parents (unless one of them was informant). Most records involving land (Griffith's, tithes, etc.) only mention the head of household and since there were at least 2 Farrelly families in the same area at the same time those sources might not help sort out the confusion. Have you tried searching for church records yet?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I use BRS. There were many records from Munterconnaught and Castlerahan that are missing. That is really unfortunate.... I have someone going to the NLI and getting all of the 1821 census records in the area (Knocktemple, Coronagh etc..) for me.... I can't wait for that....

Thanks for responses I appreciate it.
