This topic is related to a topic I posted 7 Oct 2008 subject Wylam, Oakwood House, 1840s.  My great great grandmother Elizabeth Jane Turner was in service in Wylam in the 1840s.  I have a copy of a letter addressed to her at Oakwood House, Wylam, dated 26 Dec 1841.  In a letter that I am guessing is to her sister Emma dated 4 Jan 1843 addressed to Miss E Turner, Oakwood House, Near Wylam, she asks how Elizabeth is liking her new place and how far it is from Oakwood House to Bradley Hall.  On 9 Mar 1844 she writes to Elizabeth at Wylam Cottage, Near Wylam.  Does anyone know if there are any household records surviving for any of those three properties during that time period that might list my ancestors or where I might start to look for them?

You could start by searching Access to Archives (a2a)

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/

If there are any records they should be held at Northumberland Collections - documents referenced NRO

Hi Christine,
Thanks for the lead.  I have jotted down a few references and since I was planning a day at Woodhorn on my next visit to England I will pursue further then.
