Just been reading through his record - how on earth do you decipher some of the words?  A the top it has his personal details & in the height column its got 5-5, 6-6, 5-8 & half - why are there 3 different measurements, was he 5'5 when he started - grew a bit - then shrunk again  ;D

Can I ask a question or 2???

On the Joseph Feenan service record it has his d.o.b as July 1865, Shankhill, Antrim  but I cannot find a record for this.  His census for 1911 says born Scotland, record for this has been poss found - would he have lied on the service record about age & where born?
Also been looking for a marriage between Joseph & Ann Jane Costello - on familysearch have found a poss marriage of a Joseph ,Oct-Dec 1892, Belfast Registration District - but not a record for Ann, would the record have just not been put online - where do I search now for more info on the poss Joseph marriage, more details that are not on the record.

Sorry for questions just hit a large brick :)

Stumbling block -please help!!

All census records & birth records add up to Feenan family I am trying to find info on - then today hit brickwall:

Went on AncestryIreland for the first time & found a marriage for a Joseph Feenan 1892, fathers name Patrick - that all added up to what info I had found & what I had been told by family - so bought credits an downloaded marriage records, Ann Jane is a Graham (not Costello).

The Graham surname does not fit so the Joseph Feenan must be the wrong one but he is the only one on the census records - what do I do now?

Ange

Just thought I'd update - I have found a family link to the Feenans in New Jersey, USA.

I turns out that one of Patrick's sons James went to America, followed his irish sweetheart & married over there - I am in contact with this James Feenan's great granduaghter.

Still can't find marriage of Joseph & Ann though someone has come up with a possible for 1894, Westmeath.  Although they had a daughter in Hastings, Sussex in 1894 - would she have married being already pregnant being a catholic girl or am I barking up the wrong tree with this marriage & should keep searching?

Hi Cyril,

That looks promising as everyone is called James or Patrick & it seemed most of them maried Anne's of various maiden names :)

Look forward to hearing off you again soon.

Regards - Ange

Hi,
I came upon this site (Roots Chat) by chance.
This is from the Irish census of 1901 http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Mayo/Belmullet/Knocknalina/1580291/

Residents of a house 13 in Knocknalina (Belmullet, Mayo)

Surname   Forename   Age   Sex           Relation to head   Religion
Feenan   Joseph   35   Male           Head of Family           Roman Catholic
Feenan   Ann Jane   32   Female   Wife                           Roman Catholic
Feenan   Agnes   5   Female   Daughter                   Roman Catholic
Feenan   Patrick Joseph     Male   Son                           Roman Catholic

Joseph and Ann Jane were my grandparents; Patrick Joseph was my father.

They were living here as Joseph was a member of the Irish Coastguard

Unfortunately I don't know when and where they were married.

Hope this helps

I'm concentrating on are Joseph Feenan & his wife Ann Jane (nee Costello), on the 1911 census it has them as being 47 & 44.  The names & the children are all fitting in with what I have been told but I can't find a birth record for her or a marriage between the 2 - if anybody can help that would be very much appreciated.

Joseph Feenan was my great grandfather. They had two younger twins (Michael and Daniel. Michael was my grandfather)
