Didn't realise they'd gone to Scotland- you'd said your family were English so I thought that's where this lot had gone. Unfortunately Scottish 1911 census won't be released until 2011.

Here's a link to 1911 census in case anyone else wants to see it:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Antrim/Duncairn/Greencastle_Street/170885/

Did a bit of searching and FreeBMD website (English records) has a birth July/Sept.1895 for an Agnes Feenan in Hastings district.
From Irish civil registrations I found a Patrick Joseph Feenan Oct./Dec.1900 Belmullet registration district, Co. Mayo and in the same district James Feenan birth Jan./Mar.1904.
These could be the 1st 3 children in the 1911 census.
Can't see a likely marriage for Joseph Feenan and Ann Jane Costello in Ireland or English (using FreeBMD site which may not be complete).

Checking on a Scottish birth for Joseph Feenan I found this in I.G.I. (www.familysearch.org): Joseph Feenan born 14 Nov.1864 Middle Or New Parish, Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland- parents Patrick Feenan and Ann McQuiggan. Ring any bells?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I have no idea about the scottish connection other than that is what his birthplace says in the 1911 census - you may have found his birth though - The Feenan's are Irish, he could have just been in Scotland (nobody in family knew this).  I was told he was from Greencastle (as in area) turns out its a street in Duncairn!
As for Agnes & older sister - it could be Hastings but again family members only know of the 3 youngest brothers, this is just something I have stumbled on today - there is about 5 years between Agnes & oldest brother Patrick so in this time they moved back to Ireland -

Thanks for all your help, I will follow up these leads..

Greencastle Street is in Duncairn D.E.D. in 1911 census which is part of Belfast (Shankill Parish)- there's no house number so difficult to pinpoint the present location exactly.

the family seem to appear on the 1901 census transcription for Co. Mayo on
http://www.leitrim-roscommon.com/

 Townland : Knocknalina
Joseph Feenan (35) Comm.boatman Coast Guard    born Scotland
 Ann Jane(32) wife/born Scotland
 Agnes(5) born England
 Patrick Joseph(5mo.)

Joseph's occupation might explain why they moved around so much.

Well spotted, Shane. Except now Ann Jane is supposed to be born in Scotland!

I think it might be worth checking for the marriage in Scotland... nothing promising crops up in England or Ireland

Have tried searching for marriage (Scotland's People website) but no marriages for Joseph Feenan 1890-1895.
