Visiting Cheshire-help please
« on: Tuesday 01 June 10 21:59 BST (UK) »
Hello all

My cousin and I are visiting Cheshire for 3 days shortly, researching our family, so time is a premium.  We intend to spend some time in the Salt Museum and we hope to see some graveyards also streets where they lived.  We have family who lived in Runcorn, Winsford and Over.  Is there anyone or any institution who can help us to make sure we get as much info as possible.  Neither of us know Cheshire.  We are especially interested in Parish Records and MI's.

Any help would be appreciated.

What used to be called Chester Record Office in the city centre has many of the parish records and much else.

Hi, Del, I am a regular visitor at the Cheshire Archives and Local Studies centre in Duke Street in Chester.  As Ainslie has directed you this is the best place to support your family research.  You really need to book a microfilm reader with them (via email is Ok)or you could arrive and find that they are all in use. The catologue of the holdings is on the website and you will note that they hold the parish records on film of the majority of Cheshire.
Good Hunting
