Erm, I hope you weren't thinking of making a visit to the ancestral pile, cos from looking at google street view, it appears to now be a used car lot.  (judging by the architecture concrete monstrosity) it was built in the 1960s.

Well, I don't know - you might be able to get a discount on a new car  ;)

Not sure whether you had got Stephen and Hephzibah's wedding cert, but I just had a look on the Medway City Ark website and found it - it gives Stephen's dad so we can look to see if there is a family that fits!

Marriage took place on Nov 2nd 1876 at St peters Rochester

Stephen Thomas Goodwin / 21 / bachelor / labourer / Miles Place, Dilce Road (?) / Stephen Goodwin / Engine Driver
Hephzibah Keturah Beaney / 19 / spinster / Miles Place, Dilce Road / Thomas Beaney / Labourer

Stephen signed, Hephzibah made her mark
Witnesses were John Beaney and Rose Petty

Hmmmm, where's Frindsbury?  On the 1861, 1871 and 1881 there is a Stephen (Steven on 1881) with parents Stephen and Sarah and assortment of siblings.  I realise we already have who we suspect is Stephen and Elizabeth/Hephzibah on 1881 but the Steven on the 1881 with his parents is enumerated as being married.....

So are there two Goodwin families or one family who likes to change their name?

Stephen senior claims to be an Engine Driver on the 1871 census - which would link to Stephen junior's marriage  :-\
