had a look on scotlandspeople

there are only 2 john  brown's died in selkirkshire between 1861 and 1881
born 1821 + / - 10 years

both died in 1869

john brown born c1824 died galashiels selkirk.(the workhouse one ?)

john brown born c1822 died selkirk selkirk
