Monmore Green Primitive Methodist & High Street Primative
« on: Friday 04 June 10 18:55 BST (UK) »
I have found on free reg a possible baptism at Monmore Green Primitive Methodist for one of my ancestors

Emma Thomas 21st April 1864 parents William Thomas Occupation Miner and Mother Lusey

The spelling of the mother has thrown me as I have her named as Lucy.. Does anyone have a copy of the baptism records for Monmore Green Primitive Methodist if it would give any more info..

Her brother Allen Thomas was baptised at High Street Primitive Bilston 20 april 1869

Were these two churches the same type as in Non Confirmists?

Many thanks Jan

Hi Jan,

The 2 churches you mention were both Primitive Methodist Chapels. The Primitive Methodists were a breakaway from the Wesleyan Methodists in the early 1800s. As such they would be described as Non Conformist.

My Grandmother was Sarah Kilner. Her parents were Richard Cullis and Emma Thomas. They were married in Dec 1880. Emma was 18. Her father was William Thomas, collier. I now believe her Mother was Lucy. They were originally from Bilston. But I believe they came from Montgomery.
Sarah married my Grandfather James Kilner in 1905.
Two members of the Kilner family, Peter and Samuel were killed in the Clifton Hall colliery explosion in 1885. My Father,Benjamin always said his Grandmother was Welsh. Slowly I am piecing things together.

Here is the baptism of a

Edwin GRIFFITHS - birth date 3 August 1833, baptism date: 7 July 1836

Saint Chad, Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

father: William GRIFFITHS and Maria

: William GRIFFITHS married Maria SMITH - 10 January 1833, Saint Chad, Shrewsbury.

---

1841 Census, Shrewsbury St Chad

St John's Hill

next door to a Henry DAVIES

listed is a Rebecca GRIFFITHS - 75 - Ind. all born in County
Maria GRIFFITHS aged 30 - Ind

Not sure if this is correct, as I can't see Sarah GRIFFITHS aged 14/Richard GRIFFITHS aged 11  who are  on the 1851 census,
