Has anyone tried to get access to school photos taken by Panora Ltd, Used to be in Eagle Street, London.
I am trying to get a copy of the photo taken at Westfield School, Hinckley around 1956.
Some references on google but seems to point to a particular school.

Did you ever manage to get access to the Westfield school photo's?
Reason I'm asking - a late relative of mine would probably be on them if they were group photo's and it would be lovely to see him.

WOW! this reply was a real surprise being it is over a year since I first posted. When I returned last year from my stay in Australia we did have a get together of some of the old pals from Westfield and others. The problem was we has this in a pub and not a good place to be sharing out information. There was someone there who mentioned one of the old school pals at the time had all the photos and was now living in Blackpool but I regret that I have not chased this up since and my friend who knows how to contacts people is currently in the USA and won't return until then.
The Leicestershire Records Office has nothing on the school and local stuff seems to be what individuals have collected.
I will write a PM to you as I need to mention names.

I've just discovered that negatives of panoramic school/college photos taken by Panora Ltd are now in the Documentary Photography Archive which is held in Greater Manchester CRO. That's the good news. The bad news is that only negatives of photos taken between 1968 and 1985 survive.

I understand it's possible to get a printed copy for £37. More info here:

Thanks for that info and I am disappointed that we don't have the negatives from the period I was at school. So much of our past gets lost.

**I have the direct email of address of a really helpful archivist at Manchester I have been dealing with. Regret he also confirmed to me that the company who deposited the negatives with them were only holding post 1968
There IS a site called 'Old Croydonians' on the web who actually have minature scans of Pandora photos that DO predate 1968. How they obtained these I don't know, but I have contacted them to ask.

I was a bit amazed at getting your reply considering the posting was over two years old but it is very much appreciated. I googled the site you mentioned but what I would be looking for is something from Westfield SM in Hinckley, Leicestershire. But this does illustrate the power of Rootschat on how reply from quite a long way back can still get responses.
