Would appreciate any help or guidance on finding details on a John Day prior 1815,John was born in Hertford,Hertfordshire c 1788-90

John was tried and convicted on 14/1/1813 at the Staffordshire Quarter Sessions and was sentenced to 7 years transportation to the colonies, it is presumed he was incarcerated aboard one of the prison hulks used for this purpose in the rivers and harbours in England,as he did not leave Plymouth,England till the 20/4/1815 on board the ship called the "Baring" arriving at Port jackson N.S.W Australia on 7/9/1815,his indent papers showed that he was 25 years of age on his arrival to Australia.

John day c 1788-90 is my 3rd G Grandfather.

I have also a copy of a church certificate from HALS which show a John Day & Alice Wray married at St Andrews Parish Hertford on 5/9/1788, whether this could be his father i'm not sure as i guess thier could be plenty of John Days around that period.

Regards,
              Moya Smith [nee Day]
